"Tonight's Word: Independence Daze" - Heisenberg - 7.4.18

Entry Submitted by Heisenberg at 4:51 PM EDT on July 4, 2018

Alright..alright..alright - David Wooderson

And that brings us to tonight's word: INDEPENDENCE DAZE

I'm here. We're here. Waiting for that one moment we all can call our own. That one day that will sum up the entire struggle. That one day we can look back on, drink beer, roast mystery meat over gasoline flavored coals and try not to blow our fingers off from some homemade m80 receipe we found on wikihow. Just one independence day to hang our hats on.

But July 4th was not then and is not now just one day. The entire 1776 war for independence was stretched out years, if not decades. Google it. Maybe starting with the first gal who said, why is all our money going back to England? Or the first guy who asked, did I just get double taxed on my venti passion fruit tea? So those little moments over time of something not smelling right turned into a revolution against the British crown. Did it take years to try and wake up the local farmers to the rigged system they were living in? We're there hundreds of us revolutionaries having hangable offense meeting in barns and basements? Did some of those farmers refuse to stand up because they heard farmer Hutch took a stand and threw himself into a wood chipper? Allegedly? That's not even possible. Or did some of those farmers think they were blessed by God to just be able to put food on the table for their family and fate not stir the pot? Didn't matter that plate of food got smaller and smaller at every saying of grace. Or maybe the soldiers came and took a daughter or two. At what point did those farmers take a stand? What pushed them over the edge? Funny.... but it's probably the same that call us to stand today. And yesterday. And last year. And last decade.

And I was thinking... why only one day to celebrate the 4th of july? If this was China, they probably would have had a cool week to celebrate. But that would be very anti American, wouldn't it? Or should i say anti corporate? That's lost production. That's lost profit. Just think of everyone behind the counter today. Last minute ketchup from Walmart? You can bet your life on it. They'll bet your life on it. Well, a celebratory week would have been nice like holy week in granada. Or a week in cajun country. But I'll take 1 day... for now...

And when they did finally announce independence day back in 1776, the war was already in the bag. I mean, they were already dancing in the streets i imagine. Everyone probably knew but just waited for a formal announcement. Kinda like us now. Where's that one day we can call our own? That one day that the clarion call finally makes sense to each of us. Our past memories still fuzzy, can we have one day to hold up the newspapers and let our humble egos have their moment? Just one day to tell our friend's, "See...i wasn't crazy. I wasn't 2 Guinness short of a six pack. Now buckle up butter cup. Here come the Galacticas." One day to finally put to rest the mystery of why would we know that? Why would we the few but growing see the truth thru the illusion? Mysterious ways, amigo.

Our current Independence Daze are not just one day. Our independence has spanned a period of time far longer than just one day. I'm sure many will be a tad disappointed we didn't have our exchange center meet and greet today. Don't believe the hype. Maybe some did. And maybe those that did have mandatory prosperity projects attached. That's a good thing. That's a win. The reality is we are living every day now as an independent day. Tomorrow. Friday. Saturday. And if i have to put A-1 on ice and pretend it's filet mignon... that's ok. In one hand i will celebrate my independence daze every day...and in the other hand i will be grateful for the HEROES who have come before us and the HEROES still with standing with us. The HEROES fighting hard to establish true Law and Order. A Law and Order that is fair... and equitable... and just....and humane...

A system with the mantra that nobody wins... unless everybody wins...

Alright.. alright.. alright...

And that's the word

Ps. For the heads... open jack straw right? For non heads, its a conversation between two, i would say contact killers. One ruthless and without mercy or emotion. The other enigmatic with a conscious presumed the weak one... Jack Straw from Wichita. I won't spoil the ending....

"This Land Is Your Land"

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I went walking that ribbon of highway
And I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me

I roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
All around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me
Sign was painted, it said private property
But on the back side it didn't say nothing
This land was made for you and me

When the sun comes shining, and I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
A voice was chanting and the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me

Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dead pony
I met a white man who walked a black dog
I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
I met one man who was wounded in love
I met another man who was wounded in hatred
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

And that brings us to tonight's layover: CAJUN MARDI GRAS

The Kobe craze really annoyed me. Most of the practitioners had no real understanding of the product and were abusing it and exploiting it in terrible and ridiculous ways. Kobe beef should not be used in a hamburger. It's completely pointless.

Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start. - Mr.....Bourdain
