The government pays $ 230 million for the city of Basmaya

2018/5/26 05:23:04 PM

The Hanawah Engineering and Construction Company announced on May 24 that it had received an additional 230 million US dollars from the Iraqi government for work in the first half of this year to build the new city of Basmaya in Iraq.

The project includes the construction of the new city with about 100,000 housing units and infrastructure near the capital Baghdad. The total contract is $ 10.1 billion. So far, Hanhua has received a total of $ 3.47 billion, equivalent to 34.7 percent of the total contract value.

The $ 230 million raised this time was paid on three separate occasions during the Iraqi elections. The third and final payment was made on May 23 after the general election in Iraq, indicating the government's will to stabilize the new city, regardless On political positions, according to the Korean company Hanwha.

Hanwha E & C believes that this year's budget will implement all plans, as the reconstruction project in Iraq will begin on a large scale if the situation stabilizes after the general elections. link

MilitiaMan: Fairly sure imo that things are now more stable than they were before, as noted by the lack quorum on the side of the losers..

The winners are new fresh technocrats that want progress and not more of the same infighting and corruption. It also suggest that the implementation of the budget is to be used, as they suggest payments have been made in support of the city now apparently finished and was all done while elections were on going, thus supporting the view that Monetary Reforms are not to be burdened by seating a new fresh goi, as it is an independent action avoid from present politics.

Imo Monetary reforms have been in the works for years and not a recent endeavor. Even Sec Mattis is speaking in terms of Marshal Plans, which we all know Iraq is one too.. Re construction is the game and it won't be stopped by shoe throwing and bickering.. lol imo -MM

To postpone the parliamentary session until next Monday

Iraq News Now The time now is 06:40 PM

Baghdad / Al-Ghad Press:

The House of Representatives decided on Saturday to hold its extraordinary session until next Monday.

"After the failure of the House of Representatives to hold its special session on the electoral process for today because of the lack of quorum, the Presidency decided to postpone until Monday."

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri said earlier in the day, during a press conference attended by "Al-Ghad Press," that "the lack of quorum will not prevent the adoption of legal means to evaluate the electoral process."

It is noteworthy that the correspondent "Al-Ghad Press", reported earlier in the day, that the House of Representatives failed to hold the meeting on the special day.

It should be noted that a parliamentary source told Al-Ghad Press that earlier in the day there was a large number of deputies on the special session of the day. link
