Return of Trade Routes Between Iraq, Saudi, Kuwait and Jordan

We welcome the return of trade routes between Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan

July 14, 2017

Baghdad - Journal News

The United States has pledged more than $ 1 billion in reconstruction and stability to the liberated areas in Iraq, the US envoy said on Friday, welcoming the return of trade routes between Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan.

"During the meeting of the international coalition yesterday, the United Nations set aside about $ 1.3 billion for the post, and three quarters of that amount is focused on stability in Mosul and the areas most affected," McGork said at a news conference.

"In the long term, the government of Iraq has developed plans for economic reform and investment until 2030 through the 2030 vision plan presented to the World Bank," he said, adding that Washington welcomes Kuwait's initiative to host a long-term reconstruction meeting next year.

The United States fully supports that initiative and we salute Iraq for its work with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to stabilize its economic position. "

"We welcome the historic opening between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, which began with Prime Minister Abbadi's visit to the kingdom last month. We also welcome the ongoing work to restore important trade routes between Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan."

"The situation in Syria is more complicated. We do not have a government to work with or a credible political future that allows the Syrians to determine their fate after the Assad regime," he said.
