"More Little-Known Info on Foster Care/Adoption" by ChangeComing - 7.8.17

"Dear Judy Byington and Appalling Foster Care Info" by ChangeComing! - 7.8.17

Some important things to consider Pre-and-Post-RV...

Patrick's site has evolved into such an awesome concentration of 'People Who Want To Help Humanity’ that this information should be shared.

It's 'semi-secret' because #1- State agencies seem to encourage a known 'subculture' of foster-care 'parents' that provide services in return for government money.

#2- reputable private foster-care agencies don't want to attract even more sleazy people who are only into providing foster care for the money and/or the chance to exploit or abuse.

So it is usually shared in small groups, seminars, or 1-to-1.

The TRUTH is: there are 3 types of adoption:

#1- Foreign Adoption. Where mostly 'third-world' countries release a (smaller and smaller) number of babies and children, many with expensive-to-fix-health-and-emotional-issues to American adoptive parents willing to take the specific child they are offered. AND pay fees of $25,000 - $50,000, PLUS multiple international travel fares, PLUS take on ALL the ongoing expenses of raising a child. On their own. The vetting and paperwork can be intense. The process can take several years. There are often severe cultural stresses involved for the child, who is plucked from a familiar environment and language and extended family -- and plunged into great change.

[Hopefully a GLOBAL RESET will empower these countries to be ready, willing and able to take care of their own!]

#2- Domestic Infant Adoption. Where private agencies charge fees to connect a birth-mother willing to give up her newborn to a 'more stable' set of parents. Fees can range from $20,000 - $100,000+. The vetting can be intense. And the process can take several years. The new parents don't get many choices, with perhaps major heartache if the birth-mother changes her mind. PLUS they are now responsible for paying ALL the ongoing expenses of raising a child. There are often deep 'primal wounds' from breaking the attachment that an infant has from powerful prenatal bonding with their birth-mother.

#3- Adoption From The American Foster Care System. Where prospective parents (traditional couples, established families, older parents, singles, gay couples etc...) are first trained and licensed and then helped through the process by social workers. You may do some foster care first if you want, to help make the world better (for one or more 'Starfish')... The State will pay a monthly STIPEND (often around $700-800 each) to the foster parents for every child AND pay for all health/counseling/special interest issues. Usually, there are NO adoption fees! And you’ll get help every step of the way.

Perhaps the BIGGEST PLUS — is the opportunity to work closely with your State or private placement agency to help choose compatible possibilities. This gives an INVALUABLE chance to get to know a child or teen in your home, and them to know you — before making a lifetime commitment.

Once the decision is made to adopt, usually THE STATE AID CONTINUES, and if you adopt a teenager, and they graduate from high school with a decent average -- they can have COLLEGE PAID FOR!

So don't let fear of expenses keep you from looking into adopting a teenager! They usually YEARN for a family, and the support and love and teaching-about-life a caring parent/s can provide. LOVE, LOVE!!

Or consider a sibling group! Most desperately want to stay together. This can be an instant family! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!

[BY THE WAY: At age 18 (21 in a few states), a teenager who hasn't been adopted gets KICKED OUT OF THE SYSTEM -- around 50,000 teens every year!

On their 18th birthday, government checks to the foster parents or group home STOP! There is NO money for the teens, NO training, NO formal support networks, NO vehicle, too many times NO diploma, and BECAUSE OF THIS -- BECAUSE THEY NEVER GOT A CARING, LOVING ADOPTIVE FAMILY OR SINGLE PARENT -- many/most end up homeless, hopeless, addicted, in drug and criminal activity, incarcerated, trafficked, prostituted, pregnant, and/or on welfare. Fewer than 3% get a college degree! http://inteldinarchronicles.blogspot.com/2017/07/dear-judy-byington-and-appalling-foster.html.]

One last thing -- VERY IMPORTANT! Many people have the misconception that some foster kids -- especially older ones -- have done something bad, so they were removed from their birth home. THAT IS NOT TRUE! Juvenile delinquents are sent to detention or juvie or jail or hospitals, NOT foster care! Kids in the Foster Care System are there THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN! They have been legally removed because their birth parents are unwilling or unable to care for them. They have suffered abuse, neglect, or abandonment...

YES, of course that means many of these precious children have ‘issues'! They have been deeply wounded. There are scars. Lots of LOVE, patience, structure, and endurance are needed. Special parenting techniques and counseling are required. THIS TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU!! Usually at no or low fees, by a myriad of State or private or volunteer agencies. YOU ARE NEVER JUST LEFT HANGING ON YOUR OWN WITH A FOSTER CHILD OR ADOPTION FROM AMERICAN FOSTER CARE!

And, our American children -- especially teens and sibling groups, and special needs kids — but ALL of them, really -- intensely want and need the love, help, and support of a caring family.

Think about expanding your family and nuturing and training up some 'Staffers' for your Trust/Foundations to carry on the work after you are done...

Googling 'how to provide foster care' or 'how to adopt from foster care' in your town or city is a good way to start.
