"Healing is Good Vibration!" by K - 7.17.17

Entry Submitted by K at 10:05 AM EDT on July 17, 2017

There are sad facts about pain. There are all kinds of pain in all kinds of places, but the worst pain causes separation. Usually, at least one being has been hurt, perhaps others. Sometimes pain is caused by an accident, sometimes pain is inflicted. Pain can be visible and even unseen....in any case, in every case the heart of a friend, the love of a family member becomes critical in healing.

BUT, healing is possible with regard to most pain. In fact, it is highly reccomended. Care and treatment are vital for healing. Will there be a scar? Always!

I was holding a horse due to be brought on stage. The small horse had been severely abused by a previous owner. After working with the mare for months, she had finally stopped kicking out and would also allow me to tighten her girth. She was trusting people! While waiting to go on stage, an assistant asked to tighten her girth. I hadn't expected a problem, but when the assistant pulled hard and fast on the leather all HELL broke loose. Unaware of the mare's history, the assistant caused her to remember the repeated pain of the past.

As I was holding the reins, the mare opened her mouth and clamped her very large teeth onto the back of my hand. The pain from the bite was numbing as it separated the flesh from the bones and tendons. I struck out at the mare as a reaction to the pain she caused, but she had anticipated my reaction and had reared into the air out of reach.

Looking back, the pain is gone and I am more aware of the damage and pain the bite from a horse can cause. In addition, I am also aware that pain causes a reaction. Just as the mare reacted from the pain more from the past than the present she jumped at her chance to retaliate. My reaction was anticipated as she had already reared up and out of my strike zone.

After 30 years, the scar on the back of my hand is fading but I learned about the depth of past pain, the pain we don't often take the time to understand. The scar has continued to remind me about the importance of understanding and forgiveness. What the bite left was a scar that appeared to be the clear image of a cross and above it a star that gave me the opportunity to share what I believe God had taught me.

To everyone who has been through the journey here in Dinarland, pain has been an element we've all encountered, some more than others. However, if we want, our experience can be used for our own and others best interest. It has been learned that, to the one who has been given much, much is expected.....meaning a lot of pain means a lot of opportunity to understand about self and others. I am not saying we need pain to understand, I only know it can change lives in a positive way if we take time to understand it which results in healing.
