"Great Leaders Know How to be Humble Servants" by Sharon - 6.12.17

So now it's time to remind myself a few aspects of being a great leader prior to moving forward. I begin with a morning routine I call the fueling hour. This hour is strictly to fuel my body, mind and spirt. Everyone has different ways to accomplish this objective, but a key point I had to overcome was not to allow myself under any circumstance during this hour to go to my phone, laptop, emails or anything that would distract me from my quiet refueling hour.

The next step I call my staging time. This time in the morning I shower dress and mentally review my schedule as well as, the days objectives prior to walking out the door. Once I walk through that threshold I know I am we'll equipped to meet the day's objectives.

While traveling to the office, be it across town or across the living room, I occasionally remind myself key objectives that make a good leader great. Like listening to others, thinking before speaking rather than reacting emotionally, and if corrective criticism must be given I need to follow it up with at least one encouraging positive comment. When a reprimand or corrective criticism is given do it with respect to whom you are addressing. Avoid speaking words of disrespect, put down, belittling or condemning remarks. Yet approach the situation in an encouraging uplifting manner. Great leaders know their team is only as strong as their weakest member and by displaying respect, honor, integrity, in their own lives, others will follow and begin to display the same in their own lives.

Oh I occasionally remind myself the simple clique that " There's no I in the word team".

So there you go my D.C. family, food for thought and how I plan to unconditionally with love, peace and joy, approach my new life. Hoping you too are encouraged and ready to make a difference in our world and the lives of others.

All my love,
