"Great Leaders Know How to be Humble Servants" by Sharon - 6.12.17

Entry Submitted by Sharon at 5:14 AM EDT on June 12, 2017

These last few weeks I had to remind myself that great leaders know how to serve with a humble heart. Without complaining, without looking for "what's in it for me", without idol actions, but with humility, selflessness, obedience, loyalty, honor and integrity.

The key is to overcome the self centered pride and desire to control or figure out the process to satisfy our insecurities. The more you over come the more you conquer those natural tendency and start surrendering yourself to humility. By surrendering our pride and ego we can allow the natural growth of humility to teach us the true essence of how to serve.

A friend of mine goes out and try's to do right things help others, gives money to the needy, helps people everyday and then wonders why they suffer from exhaustion headaches, illness, pain nearly every night. I noticed by the end of the day they seem to be resentful and grumpy. Although they preform acts of kindness their heart and understanding of service are missing key elements of humility, surrender and obedience.

You may ask why obedience but the key of obedience in this regard is like being able to take a direction, order, request, without placing your own opinion, thoughts, ideas into the situation.
In the case of my friend they were experiencing constant frustration and burn out rather than peace and joy.

To serve is not to do random acts of kindness but to joyfully and selflessly serve others and their needs regardless of how you feel and to do it with a joyful heart. I have witnessed too often people performing acts of kindness with the wrong mind set, attitude, and commitment.

Where does commitment on in to play you may ask? Well haven't you seen people say oh I'll help you do something and they come to help then leave before the task is finished? They usually follow up with an excuse or justification to why they can't stay. Yep they aren't committed to serving they just want to put enough time in to satisfy themselves as doing a good thing. We have all dines this at one point in our lives, but before we all move forward in our journey I ask you D.C. Family to reflect on your journey, examine you hearts and be at peace with where you are in the process and then with joy begin to live, love and make a difference in someone's life! All my love to you!
