"Compare!" by K - 4.26.17

Entry Submitted by K at 10:57 PM EDT on April 26, 2017

Should the journey of the humanitarian be at hand, who will be ready? As the benevolent, the one who will give, share, will bless and will bring healing, will the poor, the hungry, the homeless and abused recognize that we care? Will our speech be gentle and reassuring? Will our words bring comfort and strengthen the weak? Have we cultivated the demeanor of love and kindness? Are we ready to greet a stranger and honor someone who lives in filth?

What is the plan for helping another find value and purpose? How will we relate to the woman sitting by the curb wearing more makeup than clothing? Where will we find the time to approach a homeless soul sleeping under a bridge and invite him to climb out of his loneliness?

Will we walk the talk of our calling? Will we help others as we sit and watch others make a difference in another person's life? Is our position as a humanitarian going to give us the ability to participate and share our love through more than our financial resources?

Will we allow ourselves to develop an emotional distance from touching another's life while we live by the phone, the computer, and the checkbook? With that distance, will we also acquire a pessimistic character and hard heart?

Warning! Without the interaction of compassion and sense of accomplishment and relationship associated with the reality of life, the humanitarian may be at risk for becoming no more than a "banker"! Although some bankers are very thoughtful people, the financial aspect of their relationship with money imposes personal distance. On a positive note, when 5 o'clock arrives, the banker travels home to the family and purpose in life.

What of the humanitarian? Ironically enough, the one behind the checkbook has a choice between a life of joy and accomplishment or living a life without blessing or adventure. The attitude of every human seems to dictate the quality of life they live and promote.

As I read the posts tonight I felt the need to write as I wondered how we would be identified as loving and gentle hearted benefactors once the RV caught our attention and energies. I wondered if we would (I include myself) be able to focus on being who we needed to be for the sake of others, as what I read was mostly unkind, inconsiderate, rude, and totally opposite with regard to the meaning of the call and demeanor of a humanitarian. What I read tonight, and even in the past few nights, has been in alarming opposition of who we are being called to be. The people who need our care and help would never be able to survive the verbal roasting that has increasingly been posted on DC. Who are we?

I know the long and bumpy ride through the confusing and unpredictable back roads of Dinarland have worn us out. We (I) have become guarded, unsure and pessimistic as well. It has been difficult to keep moving forward as Light and that only means we need to support one another to be the Light for each other. After all, we will eventually step through the gate and continue as the Light for the sake of the World! Now is the time to step back into the role and identity we are chosen to demonstrate. If we practice now, we may gain some momentum for stepping into the real world. Love in the Light and best regard for better and brighter tomorrows. K
