Hello CC Community!
I've been following the posts for some time now. Reading as an interested party because I am one of the many lucky ones that will hopefully have my many environmental projects funded for worldwide deployment. I have been passionate about the environment my entire life and have chosen science as the primary route to solve many of these problems. I'm targeting the psychological side of things as well as infrastructure and "context." Can't wait. My entire being has been yearning for this and for me, NOTHING is more important. Truly.
I have a request, and its an imperatively important request to each and every one of you that have awesome humanitarian projects to enact. Please be the stewards of change when it comes to approaching and executing your projects with safeguarding the environment in mind - sustainability, very little ecosystem perturbance or destruction, balance with nature, respect for nature and all its inhabitants... things like this.
For example, there was a post recently (tried to find it but couldn't) where someone was talking about having something like 46 big ships on the ocean and having schools/classes on them. Before you embark on that, realize that ships, especially large ones, create an enormous amount of noise pollution for ocean inhabitants. Please see the following documentaries/videos about this:
There are new technologies out there to make the ships way less noisy; virtually silent. Please make sure to invest in these technologies - it is so very important. Our oceans are the lifeblood of our Earth. They are already under an onslaught of human disturbance the likes of which we must start reversing.
Ships also typically dump their waste (human feces and other waste products) directly into the ocean. Not good nor nice. They also don't have emission equipment on them and spew huge amounts of chemicals in the atmosphere. See the following about these:
I am quite sure there are new technologies available for ships to not have these ridiculously negative impacts.
I could pick out other humanitarian projects and offer the same kind of information but I don't need to do that. You all here know how important restoring Earth back to a balanced state for ourselves and all life is. I'm sure most everyone here would also agree that all life has a right to live on this earth and we must start respecting that. Aside from that, WE NEED OUR SPECIES AND ECOSYSTEMS if we are to survive long-term. I simply am requesting that you make an environmental approach TOP PRIORITY. View and execute your projects from this frame. If you are building infrastructure - make them green. If you are helping local communities in some way, teach them how to be more sustainable, etc. etc. Each of you and your projects will have huge positive impacts... if you can do those in an environmentally sustainable way all the while solving other problems - talk about being the best possible role models ever for future generations!
Thanks for reading and thank you all intel providers for your awesome information and also thanks to Patrick and all the people supporting this website!
