I had banking business at WF in Lakeland FL Friday Oct 14 and I wanted to poke at them about currency exchange and see what response I would get. My primary interest was my 401k and moving it from my past employer investment firm to a private IRA.
The bank was full, small branch and all available space was used. There were 8 cubes in the middle of what should have been open area. I signed in and waited and waited and finally I was called by name and went into one of the cubes.
I asked my questions about my 401k, he couldn't answer all the questions and started to get up to go ask someone and I told him I had other questions.
I asked about exchanging foreign currency, he asked what I had, I told him IQD, VNN and ZIM. He quickly and emphatically told me WF didn't buy/exchange those currencies, only sell the IQD and VNN.
I asked him to verify what he said was true, he was gone a long time and when he sat down and leaned towards me across the desk and quietly told me couldn't exchange IQD or VNN right then however they could exchange ZIM and asked if I would like a quote.
I asked about a wealth manager contacting me, he called someone and told me it would be next week maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, they were very busy.
He asked again quietly if I would like a quote for my ZIM, I politely told him no I would be waiting a bit longer for the rate to rise, he smiled really big and yes he understood now.
I assume who he talked to told him to make sure he got my contact information before I left because he followed me outside the bank when I left."
