"Adopt a Church Concept" - Anonymous Guest Post

Entry Submitted Anonymously at 5:33 PM EDT on October 11, 2016

ADOPT A CHURCH CONCEPT

Well what has all aspects of family? A church! What if we built up a community by starting with God loving people? Who would be most likely to pay it forward? That will be part of the project. I haven't seen anything like this yet, so I'm going to put it out there and see if we can't improve on it and make it a project all over the country.

Find a church in an economically challenged neighborhood.

1. Have a meeting with the pastor and elders of a chosen church along with an advisory board of local minister/pastors.

2. Meet the needs of the church, ie: church mortgage, repairs to the church property.

3. Define parameters for each church member and help the most needy first.

4. Close the church to anyone who has not been to church, unless there has been an illness, for a period of 4 months. Children of members may participate if they come "back" to church.

5. Make the families safe. Pay mortgages and back rent, catch up utilities and bills. In order to avail one's self of these amenities must attend free classes regarding financial stability.

6. Create a youth center associated with the Church for after school programs.

7. Determine who needs a job and help find them one, business of their own requires a business plan and approval of the Board of Directors, employ people of the church to rehab houses for members of the church.

8. Make sure the elderly are taken care of and medical is provided.

9. Define families that might need guidance.

10. Get a list from each member, including children: needs and desires

11. Provide safe cars.

12. Group insurance?

13. Possible trust for going forward with help managing it?

14. Church must help to go forward in other churches with the same program (funded by the Foundation) and implement it within the first 6 months.

Some are going to have greater needs and the distribution of services will not be equal but all should be brought to a sustainable level.
