"RE: ZIM Exchange Stories" - Guest Post by One Who Believes

Entry Submitted by One Who Believes at 7:26 PM EDT on September 29, 2016

RE: ZIM Exchange Stories

The Big Question is "Are They True or Not?" It sure would be nice to know for sure one way or the other... But, that is not what is important right now. The ONLY thing that is important is what you will do at your own exchange.

There are those who continue to suggest that the ZIM rates will be very low and even quote the low rates they have heard. Some of these people might be saying these low rates on purpose to keep you from getting the better rates and frankly, they may have actually been that low at one time. However, I feel that most of them really think and believe that the rates will be low and are only trying to help you with "Reality Thinking." I can't blame anyone who is really trying to help no matter if the Intel is flawed.

Why does this matter since the rates will be what they are anyway? It actually matters a lot according to the SITREPs, and here is why.

SITREP Intel: Ask For High Rates

You won’t be offered the higher Rates unless you specifically ask for them. This means that if you don't ask for the higher rates you won’t get them. So, if you think the rates are low, and they offer you a low rate at your exchange, you most likely will take it. Solution: Specifically Ask for the higher Sovereign, Negotiated Rates.

SITREP Intel: Call 800 Number ASAP

You must call the 800 number in the first 48 hours (2 days) in order to be "Eligible" for the higher Rates. This means that if you wait for a while before you call, you might not be able to get the higher rates. Solution: Simply call the 800 number as soon as you get them, no matter when you actually go in to exchange. I understand that if you call right away, you will not only be eligible to get the higher rates, but you will also be allowed to set a much later exchange appointment. This is especially valuable if you have travel issues or medical issues.

Why Are These ZIM Stories Important?

Whether or not these stories are true is not important. What is important, is if they give you justification to CALL EARLY and then to ASK FOR THE HIGHER RATES. That is all that matters.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that if these ZIM Exchange Stories encourage you to "Try" for the higher rates just in case they are as high as the SITREPs say they are, they have done their job. After all, it costs you nothing, and is no extra effort, to call early and ask for the higher rates. Remember that: "Just because it sounds crazy and doesn't make any sense, doesn't mean that it isn't true."
